LONG LAKE — With temperatures hovering around a brisk 11 degrees all day Saturday and snowfall adding to the ambiance, Long Lake’s 18th annual Winter Carnival saw what organizers called “an expansive turnout” of new visitors, second homeowners and local residents.

Events kicked off with the coronation of the Moonlighters Snowmobile Club king and queen, Eddie and Kitsy Rockstroh of Clifton Park and Long Lake. Other events included an ice sculpture park by the Ice Farm, of Auburn, complimentary lunch by the Long Lake Fire Department, a bonfire and fireworks. Local bars extended the festivities into the night by hosting live music.

The Long Lake Parks and Recreation Department coordinated all the races and activities and hosted the event at the Mount Sabattis Recreation Area. The event was sponsored by businesses and nonprofit organizations from around the area, as well as the Long Lake town and fire department.
