SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee chose Tom Catillaz as its grand marshal for the Gala Parade on Feb. 8.

He was born in December 1954, the third child of Bunnie and Joe Catillaz. He attended St. Bernard’s School, St. Pius X High School, North Country Community College and SUNY Geneseo. He was a member of the Lions Club, holding almost all of the positions there. He was recently appointed to the village Board of Trustees, on which he has previously served on multiple occasions for a total of 18 years. He was also mayor of Saranac Lake for seven years. Tom has three children — Mallory, Thomas and Zachary — and lives with his spouse Joann. He is employed at Hyde Fuel in Saranac Lake.

The 2020 Winter Carnival will take place Jan. 31 to Feb. 9.
