Woman charged with car burglaries

SARANAC LAKE — Saranac Lake Village Police charged Christine M. Sirman, 38, of Saranac Lake, with criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth-degree and criminal possession of three hypodermic needles following an investigation into a series of car break-ins earlier this week.

Sirman, who police say violated the terms of her parole, allegedly broke into several cars early Monday morning in the Helen Hill/Moody Pond area. Police say she stole various small items — such as a purse, coins, jewelry and pills — some of which were recovered. Police also said they are trying to identify other stolen items.

The investigation is ongoing, and more charges related to the car burglaries are expected, according to village police. Sirman was remanded to the Franklin County Jail in Malone on her parole violations and is scheduled to appear in the Harrietstown Town Court on Monday, Oct. 21 on the charges of possession of stolen property and hypodermic needles. The time, date and location of her arrest was not provided.
