Police investigate string of car burglaries

SARANAC LAKE — Village police are investigating a series of thefts from cars that occurred during the early morning hours of Monday in the Helen Hill, Moody Pond area.

The eight cars, which were all unattended and unlocked, were parked on Shepard Avenue, Franklin Avenue, Pine Street, Forest Hill Avenue and Fawn Street. Stolen items include loose cash, pills and jewelry, police said.

Susan Moore, an advertising representative for the Enterprise who lives in that area, said her car was broken into sometime Friday night. She said $145 worth of winning lottery tickets and all of her change except two pennies were stolen.

The Saranac Lake Police Department wants to remind all residents to lock their car doors and not leave anything valuable in their vehicles.
