Skiers pedal to raise money to reduce injuries

LAKE PLACID — On Saturday, the New York Ski Education Foundation and Northwood School raised more $4,000 in a fundraiser called Stop the Bleed Spin-a-Thon, during the Adirondack Rollerski Series in the parking lot of the Olympic Ski Jumping Complex.

Junior athletes, coaches and some toddlers hopped on the spin bikes to raise money for the Stop the Bleed program, in partnership with the Kelly Brush Foundation. With rapid developments in Alpine ski technology and tuning techniques, there has been a dramatic increase in life-threatening cuts to young ski racers around the world. NYSEF, Northwood and the KBF are dedicated to training coaches and distribute life-saving bleeding control kits to Alpine ski programs around the country.
