LAKE PLACID — Rich Burke, Caitlin Skufca, Nancy Sansevere and Brian Delaney completed the Lake Placid Ironman double Sunday by crossing the finish line of the 70.3 triathlon.
Each of the four locals athletes were also finishers in the 140.6-mile Ironman on July 28.
Burke, a 52-year-old from Saranac Lake, was the top local finisher in both races. He covered Sunday’s course, which included a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride and a 13.1-mile run, in 4 hours, 40 minutes and 45 seconds to take first place in the 50-54-year-old age group and 15th overall.
In July’s full Ironman, Burke crossed the line in 10:12:32. He also placed second in the Tupper Lake Tinman in June with a time of 4:19:32.
Skufca, a 27-year-old from Wilmington, finished in 5:34:36 on Sunday and 12:29:30 in July. She placed eighth overall in the 25-29-year-old age group with the help of a 3:01:35 bike time that was fourth best in her division.
