SARANAC LAKE — State Police are discouraging motorists from stopping to view a young bull moose that has been drawing a crowd on the edge of state Route 3.

Police said Thursday that they have been called to the scene, near Trudeau Sand and Gravel between Saranac Lake and Bloomingdale, numerous times over the last couple weeks for the reported congestion and near-crashes involving vehicles and pedestrian traffic.

On Thursday they set up temporary “no parking” signs and posted a trooper there to keep people from stopping or parking. State Police said they will issue citations and enforce traffic laws to prevent a tragedy at this location.
