Storms knock power out for thousands upstate

ALBANY (AP) — Strong storms have knocked out power for thousands of residential utility customers in upstate New York.

Sunday evening’s heavy rain, winds and thunder hit the Albany and Saratoga Springs areas especially hard.

More than 13,000 customers in that region were without power just after 8 p.m.

Smaller outages reported in central New York, the North Country and the Southern Tier. More than 1,600 utility customers in and around Syracuse lost power.
