Assemblyman Billy Jones visited the towns of Harrietstown, Santa Clara and Tupper Lake Wednesday last week to discuss infrastructure improvements and community needs with local officials in southern Franklin County.

Jones, D-Plattsburgh, has had a busy summer touring local infrastructure and meeting with area officials, hitting 28 towns within the 115th District by Aug. 16, with plans to visit nine more towns.

In Saranac Lake he met village Mayor Clyde Rabideau, county Legislator Lindy Ellis, and other village and town officials to discuss improvements to the Wilson-Raymond sports field at the Petrova school. Jones also discussed infrastructure needs with Santa Clara Supervisor Marcel Webb and Highway Superintendent Scott LaMay, as increasing numbers of vacationers and tourists have been straining the small town’s limited resources during the summer months.

In Tupper Lake, Jones discussed community needs with town Supervisor Patti Littlefield and village Mayor Paul Maroun. Jones previously secured $125,000 for the village for construction of the bandshell at Flanders Park. Jones also secured $50,000 for the paving of Gull Pond Road in the town, as well as $50,000 for the reconstruction of Church Street in the village.
