A rosy maple moth sits on a towel in Bloomingdale. The smallest of the silk-cocoon-spinning moths, each member of this pastel-colored species is born and lives most of its life in the same maple tree. Adults do not eat and are solitary, except at night, when females’ pheromones attract males for polygynandrous mating events.
