Spectrum phones go out for small businesses

Small business phones on Spectrum went out up and down the East Coast Thursday, according to a company spokesperson and a third-party outage map.

The website DownDetector.com showed outages from Florida to Maine. The outages were sporadic, not hitting entire markets, nor residential phone services.

“Our engineers are working to resolve a hardware issue affecting voice services for some small and medium business clients,” Lara Pritchard, Spectrum’s senior director of communications for the Northeast region, wrote in an email. “Service has returned for the vast majority of affected clients, and we hope to completely restore service soon. We apologize for any inconvenience to our clients.”

The @Ask_Spectrum Twitter account said the telephone outage was affecting inbound and outbound calls.

Some phone services were back up and running by Thursday evening.
