SADD support spreads to 2nd billboard

TUPPER LAKE — Members of Tupper Lake’s Chapter of Student’s Against Destructive Decisions recently reached out to community businesses that do not sell or promote substance use and asked them to contribute to a campaign that resulted in commissioning two billboards on Park Street.

The amount of community participation was so substantial that all of the businesses could not fit on the initial billboard, and the plan was changed so all could be presented for at least one month’s time. Another billboard will be up from June 13 through July 14.

The elementary school age students pictured on the billboard participated in a citizenship contest. SADD members chose the students whose art was of the highest caliber. Most of the students are members of SADD.

“One School, One Community, One Goal: Bully and Substance Free” is the message that SADD attempts to promote throughout the school year and which its members are to exemplify year-round.

The participating businesses are Aubuchon Hardware, Trillium, the Cuttin’ Room, Green Mountain Trash Services, Gillis Realty, Russel Cellular, Adirondack Regional Federal Credit Union, St. Joseph’s Addiction Treatment and Recovery Centers, E M Enterprises, S&M Properties of the Adirondacks, OneGroup, Citizen Advocates, LaValley Real Estate and Primary Eyecare Center.
