LAKE PLACID — The village board approved filming for the HBO TV series “Succession” on the sidewalk outside the Palace Theatre on Main Street at Monday night’s meeting.

“Succession” stars Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook and focuses on the Logans, a dysfunctional family and owners of large media company. While the father’s health is deteriorating, his children are all vying for control of the company.

Film crews will work outside the Palace Theatre Tuesday, April 30 from 6 to 11 p.m. The site will be used as the exterior of a fancy cocktail party where guests are arriving, kind of like a red carpet.

Film vans will occupy a few parking spaces, and there will be intermittent traffic control. Private generators will power cameras and lighting equipment for the shoot. On the lake-side of the street, 60-foot lifts will provide extra lighting.

Other filming locations include the Whiteface Lodge and the Whiteface Mountain Ski Center in Wilmington.

President of the Lake Placid Business Association and owner of Terry Robards’ Wines & Spirits Tim Robinson liked the idea of the shoot and said it could encourage more foot traffic to businesses at that end of Main Street. Village Mayor Craig Randall agreed with that sentiment.

Grant Wilfey Casting is looking for extras in “Succession” while film crews shoot in Lake Placid and Lake George between April 24 and May 3.

Filming in Lake Placid will take place on April 24-26 and April 29-30 while filming in Lake George will take place May 2-3. Extras will portray upscale business types and amusement park goers. This is paid background/extra work, and no experience is necessary.

People 18 and older who are interested should submit their name, age, dates they’re available and a headshot photo (selfies are OK) to locations@gwcnyc.com. In the email subject line, write “Flyer Upstate NY.” People should note whether they are a member of SAG-AFTRA or NONUNION.

Cars will be needed for a few shots, too, so Grant Wilfrey is asking people to submit their make, model and car colors. Also, skiers are needed for a skiing scene on Tuesday, April 30. On Friday, May 3, one scene takes place at a kid’s birthday party. If you have a child between the ages of 10 and 17 who’s interested, you can submit their information, as well.

Starting at $19.00/week.
