SARANAC LAKE — Members of the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Committee and the public who attended the committee meeting on Tuesday chose “Myths and Legends” as the theme for the 2020 Carnival.

The theme was chosen from among ideas gathered from the community and committee members. “Myths and Legends” was proposed at the March committee meeting by Julia Walkow, a second-grader at Petrova Elementary School and a Saranac Lake resident.

When narrowing down the theme ideas, committee members weighed a number of factors, including whether a theme could fit well in the parade and generate suitable music for the myriad of festivities during the 10-day-long event.

The next Saranac Lake Winter Carnival will take place on Jan. 31 to Feb. 9, 2020.
