Saranac Lake seeks members for Arts and Culture Advisory Board

SARANAC LAKE — This village seeks candidates interested in appointment to two-year terms on a new Arts and Culture Advisory Board.

The village Board of Trustees approved creation of this seven-member advisory board last year. The advisory board’s purpose is to make recommendations to the Board of Trustees regarding policies and actions that facilitate implementation of the village’s Arts and Culture Master Plan.

The advisory board is to undertake actions that support the following vision statement: “The historic Village of Saranac Lake supports thriving arts, cultural, and community institutions, in an all-inclusive environment that fosters the creative economy, community pride, downtown revitalization, and a myriad of diverse year-round offerings within outstanding natural surroundings.”

Advisory board members will act as liaisons between the arts and cultural community and the Board of Trustees, and advocate for implementation of the five goals contained in the Arts and Culture Master Plan:

¯ Arts and cultural community engagement

¯ Master plan funding acquisition

¯ Targeted arts marketing campaign

¯ Organizational and artist support

¯ Arts and culturally driven economic development.

A position description for advisory board members can be found on the Community Development page of the village’s website, www.saranaclakeny.gov. Interested residents should send a letter of interest by Friday, April 12, either by email to comdev@saranaclakeny.gov or by mail to Clyde Rabideau, Mayor, c/o Jamie Konkoski, 39 Main St., Saranac Lake, NY 12983.

Questions should be directed to Jamie Konkoski, community development director, at 518-891-4150 or comdev@saranaclakeny.gov.
