Atlantic publishes article on political tolerance in Watertown

WATERTOWN — On Monday, the Atlantic published a story about Watertown titled “The Least Politically Prejudiced Place in America.”

Journalist Amanda Ripley spent time in Watertown last fall after Jefferson County was listed as one of the most politically tolerant counties in the country in a nationwide poll.

“These are places where people can disagree on politics but still, it appears, give one another the benefit of the doubt,” she wrote in the story.

For the article, Ripley interviewed a number of local residents, politicians and journalists about the ways in which people do, and do not, preserve relationships despite political difference.
