State Police arrested a Tupper Lake woman after a lengthy investigation of alleged abuse at Sunmount Developmental Disabilities Services Office in Tupper Lake, where she worked.

What they found, though, Troop B Public Information Officer Trooper Jennifer Fleishman said in a press release, was that Jesse L. Fletcher, 46, had several times made anonymous calls to the New York State Justice Center tip line to falsely report incidents.

In fact, Fleishman said, Fletcher made up reports of abuse she told the tip line had taken place on a Sunmount unit she, herself, supervised.

As a result, she and other staff members were put on paid administrative leave for an extended period of time, State Police said.

The calls also created public alarm, Fleishman said.

Fletcher was charged with three counts of third-degree falsely reporting an incident involving a vulnerable adult and two counts of providing a false written statement, both misdemeanor charges.

She was released on appearance tickets returnable to Tupper Lake Village Court.
