Lumber Jack and Jill Weekend at Big Tupper Brewing this weekend

TUPPER LAKE – Big Tupper Brewing is bringing back their Lumber Jack & Jill event this weekend on Cliff Avenue.

A full weekend of lumbering activities will take place, celebrating an important part of Adirondack history. From storytelling to demonstrations, the weekend will offer something for all ages.

Starting on Friday, Feb. 15 at 5:30 p.m., Big Tupper Brewing will host storyteller Bruce Lavoy as he brings to life, the tall tales of the lumbering days of old. People can sit by the outdoor fire and hear what it was like to be an early Adirondacker, while enjoying the happy hour prices from 5 to 7 p.m. Following the fireside event, local musicians Ben McClelland and Jay Martin will entertain inside the pub from 6 to 8 p.m.

On Saturday, Feb. 16, doors open at 11 a.m., with the festivities getting underway at noon with an opportunity to meet the Paul Smith’s Forestry Team before they get busy with demonstrations throughout the entire afternoon. The street closes at 1 p.m. as the team conducts demonstrations of chopping, sawing, axe throwing, carving, and more throughout the entire afternoon. In addition, there will be an outdoor cornhole tournament with prizes, give-aways and more.

At 2 p.m., Clover and Thistle will entertain the crowd with some spirited North Country style music. Throughout the rest of the afternoon, there will be keg tossing contests, keg races, carvings and chair skits put on by the Paul Smith’s Forestry Team.

The afternoon will continue with demonstrations and contests, and give-aways, followed by a carving auction. An LCR Tournament is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m.

On Sunday, Feb. 17, a ADK Bloody Mary Tonic Lunch special will begin at noon.
