Freezing temps halt Palace work Monday, delay Tupper schools Tuesday

SARANAC LAKE – There was no work done on the Ice Palace by volunteers Monday due to the dangerously frigid temperatures, which the National Weather Service said the wind chill hovered around minus 40.

The Tupper Lake Central School was also on a two-hour delay Tuesday morning due to the freezing temperatures, which were recorded as low as minus 27 in the Tri-Lakes. As of 9 a.m., the temperature was still minus 21 in Saranac Lake. The high today is expected to reach 13 degrees.
