SARANAC LAKE – Three new doctors have joined Adirondack Health’s medical staff.

Emily Szczech, D.O., has joined Dr. Michael Hill and Dr. Irwin Lieb at Adirondack Surgical Group in Saranac Lake. A general surgeon, Dr. Szczech completed her medical degree at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine, and her residency in general surgery at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. Surgeries Dr. Szczech can offer to the community include colon resection, hernia repair, mole removal, and gallbladder and breast surgeries. She is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.

Bart Szczech, M.D., M.H.S., has joined Dr. William Smith, Dr. Eugene Byrne and Dr. Daniel Bullock at Lake Placid Sports Medicine as the group’s fourth orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Bart Szczech will also serve as director of joint replacement surgery at Adirondack Medical Center, Saranac Lake. As a young child, he and his family emigrated from Poland to Canada following the collapse of the Soviet Union, and eventually settled in New Jersey. Dr. Bart Szczech holds a master’s degree in health science from Johns Hopkins University’s Bloomberg School of Public Health and a medical degree from Tulane University’s School of Medicine. Surgeries he offers include knee replacements and partial knee replacements, anterior hip and revision knee surgeries. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey, where he met his future wife, Emily.

In 2013, Dr. Bart and Dr. Emily Szczech married in Lake Placid, and they are excited to raise their daughter in the village they love so much. In their free time, they enjoy hiking, skiing and kayaking.

Tracey Henderson, M.D., F.A.A.P., has accepted an offer of hospital employment as a pediatrician. She will care for young patients at Adirondack Health’s Tupper Lake Health Center. Dr. Henderson completed her medical degree at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester and her residency in pediatrics at Golisano Children’s Hospital, also in Rochester. She is board-certified in pediatrics, and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Henderson, her husband, and their two young children look forward to joining the community, having spent many years visiting the region and hoping for the chance to one day call the Adirondacks home. In addition to running and cycling, Dr. Henderson and her family enjoy camping and downhill skiing.
