Loon Center to host open house

SARANAC LAKE – The Biodiversity Research Institute’s loon center in downtown Saranac Lake will host an open house Sunday.

The event will run from 4 to 6 p.m. at the center, which is located at 47 Main St.

Loon Center staff will be on hand to discuss ongoing efforts both at the new center and in loon conservation around the Adirondacks, and to answer visitors’ questions. There will be refreshments as well.

“We look forward to personally meeting many of our donors and visitors at the open house and discussing our upcoming plans to expand our exhibits in the near future,” said Dr. Nina Schoch, coordinator of BRI’s Adirondack Center for Loon Conservation. “We are deeply grateful to the many donors and foundations who have provided generous support to help make our new ‘nest’ a reality. This dynamic facility is enabling us to do much more for Adirondack loon conservation by increasing opportunities to share our research, knowledge of loon ecology, and love of loons with Adirondack residents and visitors throughout the year.”

The Loon Center is sharing space with Leading E.D.G.E., which is pitching a hamlet-to-hut system in the Adirondacks.
