Grants available for Tupper Lake microenterprises

TUPPER LAKE – Microenterprises – businesses with five or fewer employees, including the owner – located in the Town of Tupper Lake are invited to apply for up to $35,000 in grant funds to start or to jumpstart their business.

The town recently received notice that it has received a $200,000 award from the New York State Office of Community Renewal to develop a town-wide microenterprise assistance program. Grants are available to eligible businesses for working capital, inventory and/or equipment purchases and many other valid business purposes. Grants may not be used for construction or for reimbursement for expenses incurred prior to grant approval.

The Adirondack Economic Development Corp. is administering the program for the town. Anyone interested in applying for grant funds should contact Jim Murphy or Steve Garneau at 518-891-5523 or jamesmurphy52@me.com. Applications are also available at both the town and village offices.

AEDC staff is available to answer any questions about the program and would be available to meet with businesses at their convenience regarding their project. AEDC will also hold a public information session from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 13 at the Aaron Maddox Hall, 179 Demars Blvd. in Tupper Lake.

The deadline for completing the application is Sept. 27, 2016.
