Roedel Companies names general manager of Hotel Saranac

SARANAC LAKE – Roedel Companies has picked Michael Salyers as the general manager of the Hotel Saranac.

Salyers, 41, has a background in the hotel industry, including almost a decade with hotels in the Adirondacks, most recently with High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid. He served in several capacities at High Peaks Resort, including director of front office operations, director of revenue and director of food and beverage. He was also the spa director of High Peaks Resort’s Element Day and Spa.

“Michael was involved with a resort hotel that moved from a branded hotel to independent and quickly achieved a four-star rating,” Glenn A. Hardman, operating officer and president of RGH Hospitality, said in a press release. RGH Hospitality is the hotel management subsidiary of Roedel Companies.

“The Hotel Saranac has the best of both worlds being part of Hilton’s Curio Collection. You have the power of a Hilton brand while still maintaining the ability to be local and independent.”

Salyers attended the University of Houston Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management.

He will be responsible for the daily operation of the Hotel Saranac, which is undergoing a major restoration and is scheduled to reopen in the winter of 2017.

“Putting a general manager in place is another big step as we get closer to completing this project,” said Richard Dean, operations specialist for RGH Hospitality/Roedel Companies.

“Saranac Lake is such a beautiful area and this is a great opportunity to bring something back that has been a big part of this vibrant community,” Salyers said in the press release.
