The cause of death for a 43-year-old hiker from western New York was determined to be natural in an autopsy performed at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake this morning.

Essex County coroner Frank Whitelaw said Michael Sawyer of Geneseo, who collapsed and died while descending a trail on Cascade Mountain near Keene, died of an undisclosed medical condition.
