Coreys Road partly closed due to logging

COREYS – Part of Coreys Road, between Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake, is closed to public motor vehicle traffic due to logging operations at Ampersand Park.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation announced the closure Wednesday morning.

The road is not closed completely, just the portion on the state Forest Preserve beyond the Raquette Falls trailhead.

The road’s gate at the Raquette Falls trailhead is closed and locked. Hikers, snowshoers and skiers will need to travel on the road 3 miles to reach the Seward trailhead.

DEC asks motorists, hikers, snowshoers and skiers to watch and listen for logging trucks and, if necessary, move to the side to allow trucks to pass safely.

The road will remain closed to public motor vehicle traffic until the spring mud season ends.
