LAKE PLACID – The Lake Placid Center for the Arts invites all interested community members to a Volunteer and Envelope Stuffing Party for the 29th annual Joy to the Children Benefit.

The meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22 in the LPCA Fine Arts Gallery.

Joy to the Children 29 will be held at the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10.

This annual benefit will be co-chaired by Kari Hoffman, Erin Perkins and Sharon Wood.

Volunteers are needed for several committees and community members wishing to help out are encouraged to attend this fun organizational meeting. There are several ways individuals can be a part of the Joy preparations. Volunteers are needed to donate auction items, help solicit and gather auction items, bake goodies for baskets, sell raffle tickets, help with administrative projects, make gingerbread houses and more.

Refreshments will be served.

Lisa and Ed Weibrecht and the staff of The Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa will host the Joy to the Children Benefit for the 29th consecutive year. This annual benefit raises funds to help support more than 100 free children’s workshops and individual programs reaching more than 34,000 individuals throughout the region. Funds from the benefit help to support several programs including: The Weibrecht School Day Matinee Series, which allows schools to bring their students to top quality performances in theater, music and dance for a minimal cost; the free Young and Fun Arts Series, offered throughout the summer season on Wednesday mornings featuring a wide variety of kids entertainment; and Free Afterschool Workshops offered in a variety of medias at two different times throughout the year. It is only through the annual Joy to the Children benefit gala that the LPCA has been able to offer a unique arts-in-education outreach program for the region.

Anyone who cannot make the general meeting but would like to be involved is asked to call the LPCA at 518-523-2512 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
