Comfort Inn is now Quality Inn
The Comfort Inn in Lake Placid changed its name Tuesday afternoon to the Quality Inn.
The hotel will remain under the ownership of the Butler family. Patrick Butler, the co-owner of the Quality Inn, said the name change is part of a renovation currently underway.
“For us it was just a repositioning in the market,” Butler said. “We were at the end of our term with the Comfort Inn. We decided to go with the Quality Inn because it seemed like a really good fit for us.”
Both names are mid-level brands under the same parent company, Choice Hotels, which sells hotel brand names to franchiseses. Choice Hotels owns seven brands, including Comfort Inn, Quality Inn, EconoLodge and others.
Some of the renovation work has already been completed, including the installation of new 32-inch televisions. All of the rooms will be fitted with new beds, new interior furniture, bathroom vanities, carpet and a fresh coat of paint.
“When we are all said and done it will probably cost a little over $1 million,” Butler said.
Butler said they have a one-year window to complete the renovations.
