AEDC wins statewide award

SARANAC LAKE — The Adirondack Economic Development Corporation was recognized for “Excellence in Performance” at the annual award ceremony of Empire State Development, a New York state agency.

The award acknowledges an organization for its high level of achievement of the state’s goals in business development and service through the ESD Entrepreneurship Assistance Program. Pravina Raghavan, ESD’s executive vice president for small business services and community economic development, announced the annual Entrepreneurship Assistance Centers of the year awards, in which AEDC was named.

“AEDC is thrilled to receive this award from Empire State Development,” AEDC Executive Director Victoria Zinser Duley said in a press release. “The EAC program is key to our mission and is a fantastic network of partners across New York state. We have all been working diligently in this difficult year to help the small businesses, our friends and neighbors, that are so vital to our local economies. We’re inspired to do all we can to help small business survive and thrive in our region.”

AEDC has served the region as an EAC for more than 20 years. The 24 EACs across New York state provide instruction, training, technical assistance and support services to new and aspiring entrepreneurs.

The mission of AEDC is to advance economic opportunity in North Country communities through support for existing and new small businesses. The organization serves a 14-county area across northern New York, encompassing Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida, Oswego, Saratoga, St. Lawrence, Warren and Washington counties. AEDC is based at 67 Main St., Suite 300, Saranac Lake.
