Elderwood promotes Walker to regional director of operations

BUFFALO – Marc J. Walker has been named regional director of operations for Elderwood, a leading provider of senior care services in the Northeast. Walker served most recently as the administrator of Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid, a 156-bed skilled nursing facility in Lake Placid.

He will continue to serve in that capacity in addition to assuming his new responsibilities until a new administrator for the Lake Placid facility is identified.

Walker joined Elderwood in October of 2016 when Elderwood acquired the Uihlein Living Center from Adirondack Health. Prior to joining Elderwood, Walker was the chief senior service officer for Adirondack Health and was instrumental in aligning services for the elderly in the region. During his time with Adirondack Health, he oversaw a network of four nursing facilities, home care, and hospice known as the Blue Line Group.

I n his new role, Walker will provide operational leadership and direction for Elderwood’s senior care facilities in northeast New York State and Vermont, which encompass 472 beds and a staff of more than 350 employees.

In addition to Lake Placid, Elderwood provides services in North Creek, Ticonderoga and the recently acquired Elderwood at Burlington, in Burlington, Vermont.

“Marc’s leadership, commitment, and understanding of the ever-changing needs of seniors in this region made him the right candidate to help ensure that we continue to deliver quality care safely and effectively across all of our locations,” said Phil Quillard, COO for Elderwood.

Walker will travel extensively among the facilities, working with local leadership to ensure they have the resources and process in place to effectively serve residents and the community.

A graduate of Daemen College, Walker earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration and received his Masters of Science degree from D’Youville College. He is a native of Buffalo and currently maintains residences in both Lake Placid and Saratoga Springs.
