RAY BROOK — Adirondack Health Foundation’s 2025 Summer Gala raisesdmore than $450,000 to support local healthcare. Nearly 440 community leaders, friends and supporters gathered in Ray Brook on Saturday, July 12, at the breathtaking McKenzie Wilderness Estates for the Adirondack Health Foundation’s annual Summer Gala.

The evening honored two enduring legacies of healthcare in the Adirondacks–Hannah Hanford and Dr. Claude Roland–while raising more than $450,000 to strengthen patient care across the region.

The evening kicked off with a warm welcome from the Foundation Board Chair Heather Bumsted, who set the tone for an event dedicated to service and compassion. Former Adirondack Health President & CEO Chandler Ralph then delivered a heartfelt tribute to Hannah Hanford: “When Hannah joined Adirondack Health, she brought with her a spark that ignited an unprecedented mission to raise funds for the betterment of all patient experiences. Patients were always her focus, and her uncanny ability to bring our most ambitious projects to life for donors has left an indelible mark on our community.”

Adirondack Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. Irwin Lieb introduced Dr. Roland as the evening’s second honoree: “As a friend and colleague, Dr. Roland has made me a better surgeon. His courage in advocating for his patients–often going the extra mile when others might hesitate–has not only saved lives but has inspired every one of us to elevate our standards of care.”

Both Hanford and Dr. Roland were presented with the prestigious Dr. E.L. Trudeau Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions to healthcare in the Adirondacks.

The highlight of the evening came when guests rallied behind the Fund-A-Need live appeal, generously supporting the acquisition of a state-of-the-art intravascular ultrasound system. This advanced imaging technology will allow physicians to visualize arteries and veins in real time, ensuring more precise diagnoses and targeted treatments.

“The generosity and enthusiasm on display tonight exemplify the very best of our region,” said Adirondack Health Foundation Executive Director Jen Balog. “Thanks to our volunteers, sponsors and every guest who raised a paddle, or placed a bid, we are one step closer to bringing this transformative technology to our community.”
