LP Quinn students raise $12,600 for High Peaks Hospice

TUPPER LAKE — The students of LP Quinn Elementary School have once again proven the power of community, creativity, and compassion. During the month of May, the entire school united in their annual fundraising campaign, raising $12,600 for High Peaks Hospice.

Each grade level took on a unique fundraising strategy, including: Pre-K: Picnic Basket Raffle; Kindergarten: Water Safari Ticket Raffle; First Grade: Ice Pop Sales; Second Grade: Schoolwide Dress-Up Days; Third Grade: Bake Sale; Fourth Grade: Sunny Day Ramp; Rainy Day Basket Raffles, and Fifth Grade: Popcorn Sales.

Donations poured in both in-person and online from families and the local community, showing strong support for the cause.

On June 2, students handed over the collected funds to Nicholas George, executive director of High Peaks Hospice, during a special visit by hospice staff. Each class met with representatives from High Peaks Hospice to explain their fundraising efforts and share their understanding of hospice care.

“The level of awareness these students showed about hospice services truly moved our team,” said George. “They spoke knowledgeably about how hospice supports patients and families, and it was clear this wasn’t just about raising money–it was about learning compassion and community responsibility.”

To celebrate their efforts, all students received free ice cream scoop certificates from Stewart’s Shops. In a friendly schoolwide competition, the fourth grade took home the title of “Top Fundraising Grade,” and Ms. Collin’s kindergarten class was named the “Top Fundraising Class” overall. Both were rewarded with special pizza parties for their hard work and spirit.

The funds raised will go directly toward providing peace, comfort, and dignity to individuals receiving hospice care, as well as ongoing support for their caregivers throughout the region.

LP Quinn Elementary’s annual fundraiser not only teaches students the importance of giving back, but also strengthens the ties between generations in our community. High Peaks Hospice is deeply honored to be the beneficiary of their incredible efforts.

Starting at $3.92/week.
