SARANAC LAKE — The Adirondack Health Foundation has welcomed three new board members: Holly Wolff, Matthew Levitties and Paula Ryan.

“Paula, Holly and Matthew bring diverse skill sets to our board and we’re excited to have them join the Foundation Board,” said Daniel Kelleher, chair of the Adirondack Health Foundation Board of Trustees. “Their help will be instrumental in completing and implementing the Cornerstone Campaign.”

After many years visiting the Olympic region, Ryan became a seasonal homeowner in Lake Placid in 2016, with a permanent residence in Pelham Manor.

She is a partner with the Davis, Polk and Wardwell law firm and serves as the firm’s head of trusts and estates in New York City. She is a member of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners, a board member on the Kneisel Foundation, a former chair of the HSS Wilson Society, and former board member and secretary of the Pelham Education Foundation.

“I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to combine my love of this region with my experience with not-for-profit organizations, and thereby to assist Adirondack Health in continuing its critical work providing both excellent and uniquely personal healthcare to our Adirondack community,” she said.

Wolff resides in Saranac Lake, where she and her husband retired after she spent 34 years with IBM with a management career in sales and consulting.

She currently serves on the executive committee of Cloudsplitter Foundation, chairs Berkshire Choral International and is a member of Northern Lights Choir. She is on the leadership team for the capital campaign for Pendragon Theatre’s new downtown location. Her previous nonprofit experience includes serving as a trustee of the Adirondack Foundation, where she was involved in grants and the Birth to Three Alliance, serving as a chair of United Way of Connecticut, the statewide 2-1-1 network, and chair of Fairfield County Chorale.

“I’m looking forward to working with the Adirondack Health Foundation because the health system is at the heart of the community and is its largest private employer,” she said. “It has an outsized impact on the community where my husband and I chose to retire.”

Matthew Levitties

Levitties is from Villanova, Pennsylvania, with a home in Wilmington. He is a managing director at Versa Capital, a Philadelphia-based private equity investment firm and has over 30 years of investment, research and portfolio management experience, including with Chartwell Investment Partners, Morgan Stanley and Company and Wellington Management Company.

He serves on the boards of trustees of Thomas Jefferson University/Jefferson Health, the largest provider of healthcare in the Philadelphia area, which is comprised of 17 hospitals and more than 50 outpatient care locations. He also serves on the boards of certain Jefferson Health Plan companies and was a longtime member of the board of trustees of the Einstein Healthcare Network, as well as certain educational institutions.

“It is a privilege to serve Adirondack Health in its mission to provide exceptional and compassionate care to the residents and visitors of the Adirondack region,” he said. “As a longtime advocate for access to sustainable quality healthcare, I am honored to support this vital resource within our community.”

Grabe appointedtrustee emerita

Foundation Trustee Joan Grabe has been appointed as trustee emerita after serving three, three-year terms.

“She has been a crucial member of the AH board, serving as the co-chair of the Cornerstone Campaign, seven years on the fundraising committee, and six years on the finance committee,” a news release from the foundation reads.

Grabe is a registered nurse who has a home on Upper Saranac. In addition to her service on the Adirondack Health Foundation’s board, Grabe continues to be very involved with the Hunter Bellevue School of Nursing advisory board. She formerly served on the Hunter College Foundation board of trustees (2008 to 2023). Grabe is in the Hunter College Hall of Fame and was awarded an honorary doctorate from Hunter in 2022.

“I am a very contented trustee emerita of the Adirondack Health Foundation,” Grabe said. “The two things that were most important to me were my time on the finance committee and serving as co-chair of the Cornerstone Campaign. One is wholly hospital centered. The other is for everyone in our region who needs to be hospitalized and for the safety and efficacy of our nursing staff plus our dialysis patients and staff. It is lovely to be part of a project everyone is excited about and one we hope to complete this year.”

Farewell to AH Foundation’s outgoing trustee

Outgoing trustee Kevin Brady served the Adirondack Health Foundation for three, three-year terms. His dedication saw him through nine years on the finance committee, one year as vice chair of the board and four years as board chair, during which time he oversaw the completion of the Future of Care capital campaign.
