The Point promotes new manager

SARANAC LAKE — The Point recently announced the appointment of Kris White as its general manager.

Mining nearly two decades of hospitality management experience as well as a lifelong love of the mountainous region surrounding the property, White oversees all operations at the waterfront resort in Saranac Lake, including marketing, food and beverage, rooms and guest experiences, as well as developing and maintaining rewarding relationships with new and returning guests.

At The Point, White sees maintaining the level of service and experiential traditions for which the resort is renowned as central to his role.

“The most important thing to me is continuing to celebrate The Point’s storied legacy,” White said in a statement. “I look forward to advancing our culinary and wine program and continuing to delight guests with special experiences. The Point is an iconic and beloved property and as its steward, I look forward to ensuring that it continues to serve as a home away from home for our guests for many years to come.”

The Point occupies 75 acres on the site of the former Great Camp of William Avery Rockefeller II.

White joined The Point from the Bohemian Club, a private members club based in San Francisco, California. White started as a summer management intern and rose to the position of general manager/chief operating officer over his nine-and-a-half years with the club.

A native of Ithaca, White was a nontraditional student at Cornell University, having joined the top-rated School of Hotel Administration following service in the U.S. Army for over four years, where he advanced to sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division as an infantry soldier.

White spends his downtime enjoying the outdoors, from camping, to skiing, backpacking, and cycling. He is also a keen amateur landscape photographer and is passionate about cooking and wine.
