TUPPER LAKE — The students at L.P. Quinn Elementary School were busy reading and being mathematicians this summer. Fifty-two students participated in the Summer Reading Challenge and read a total of 1,643 books. In addition, 45 students participated in the Summer Math Challenge.

Thanks to Stewart’s and other donors, four children were rewarded with Amazon Fire HD 8 tablets. Stewart’s Shops also donated ice cream certificates. Students who participated in the Math Challenge were entered to win a bag full of math games and six tickets to the North Country Children’s Museum in Potsdam. The Goff-Nelson Memorial Library in Tupper Lake collected the reading logs and entered the students into the drawing.

Each student who participated was given a certificate and a goodie bag. The students who read the most books in their grade level were acknowledged and each given a free Scholastic book of their choice.

The winners of the tablets this year were Elizabeth Kohan, Carter Dechene, Aubrey Bissonette and Jacob Foote. The winners of the math game bags were Jocelyn Dukett, Cater Dechene and Liam Kavanagh. The winner of the North Country Children’s Museum tickets was Sawyer Dewyea.
