Keene Central School District names Mark Bennett as new superintendent

Keene Valley — The Keene Central School District Board of Education announced in November the appointment of Mark Bennett as the district’s new superintendent of schools. Bennett succeeds Dan Mayberry, who transitioned after 13 years of dedicated service.

Bennett brings with him more than 23 years of experience in education, leadership and community engagement. Most recently, he served as assistant superintendent of the Potsdam Central School District where he was recognized for his commitment to academic excellence, student-centered initiatives and innovative approaches to learning.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mark Bennett to the Keene Central School community,” Board of Education President Emily Reynolds Bergh said. “His vision for collaborative leadership and his deep understanding of small-district education will be invaluable as we continue to foster excellence for all our students.”

As superintendent, Bennett will oversee district operations, curriculum development, fiscal management and community partnerships, with a focus on maintaining Keene Central School’s strong academic reputation and close-knit culture.

“I am honored to join Keene Central School and look forward to working with the dedicated staff, students, and families who make this district so special,” Bennett said. “Together, we will continue to build on the district’s proud tradition of excellence and innovation.”

Starting at $3.92/week.
