Kilburn Politi is the future of North Elba

To the editor:

On Tuesday, Nov. 5, residents of the town of North Elba have the opportunity to elect Emily Kilburn Politi to the town council. Emily has vast knowledge and experience in addressing two of the town’s most urgent issues: i.e., affordable housing and short-term rentals (STRs). She is currently the chair of the Joint Committee Housing Committee, which is overseeing the housing needs assessment (demand vs. supply) and examining the extent as to how STRs are affecting the availability and affordability of housing in Lake Placid and the town of North Elba. As a member of the town of North Elba/village of Lake Placid Community Development Board’s short-term rental committee, Emily drafted legislation for the regulation and registration of short-term rental units.

Emily’s professional experience includes working as the housing trust administrator for the Adirondack Community Housing Trust, where she wrote, secured and administered hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants, including affordable housing. Having also served as the vice chair of the Joint Review Board since 2011, she possesses in-depth knowledge of the land-use code.

Emily is a graduate of the University of Vermont, where she was awarded a master’s degree in public administration, which will serve the community and her well in the capacity of town council member. Emily is a lifelong Lake Placid resident, as are her parents, Tony and Celeste Kilburn. As the parent of two children, Emily has a special passion for and vested interest in the future of North Elba.

Vote for the future of North Elba — vote for Emily Kilburn Politi.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Breen Randall
