Tupper Lake had five runners finish inside the top-12 to secure 27 points, while the Flyers scored 28 points. In the girls’ race, the Lumberjacks didn’t have enough runners to compete in the team competition, but both of their student-athletes qualified for the NYSPHSAA meet.

The Lumberjacks’ Sean Wood took fifth place in 18:26, Garrett Wormuth (18:36) was sixth, Ethan Barkley (18:47) was eighth and Brady Skiff (19:48) was 11th to round out the team’s scorers. The team also had strong finishes from Ira Kendall (25:36) in 16th and Nolan Wilson (29:41) was 19th.

All seven runners will compete in the NYSPHSAA Cross Country Championships at Queensbury High School on Saturday.

Brushton-Moira’s Aubrey Ryan won the Class D individual title in 23:47. The Panthers won the Section X, Class D crown as they were the only squad with a complete team. The Flyers competed in Class C for the girls race.

The NYSPHSAA Cross Country Championships Class D girls race will kick off at 10:30 a.m., while the boys race is set for a 12:30 p.m. start.
