Storm golfers fall to Cougars

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake golf team fell 5-1 at the Ray Brook Golf Course on Monday against the Northeastern Clinton Cougars.

Playing in the third position, Carson St. Louis shot the lowest round for the Red Storm and picked up the team’s lone win, topping the Cougars’ Evan Manor 42-45.

Saranac Lake’s Ryan McGinnis-Theis, playing in the fourth position, had the second-lowest round on the day, but fell to Kevin Castine 43-46. The Red Storm’s number one golfer Evan Hochwald finished with a sub-50 round but lost to Ben Fredette 43-49.

Saranac Lake’s Cooper Patnode, David Rascoe and Noah Hastings fell in their respective matches in the second, fifth and sixth spots. Patnode was defeated 46-56 by Carter Fredette, Rascoe fell to Peyton Palmer 50-53 and Hastings lost to Josh Sisco 45-63.

The Red Storm golf team was slated to take on Plattsburgh at home on Tuesday. The team will travel to Plattsburgh for its third match in a row today to take on Saranac Central at the Barracks Golf Course. The match will start at 3:30 p.m.
