Blue Bombers golf tops Beekmantown; tennis team fall to Peru

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid golf team defeated the Beekmantown Eagles 5-1 at the Craig Wood Golf Course on Wednesday.

Lake Placid’s Brady Tremblay, a senior, was a medalist with an even par 35 in cold, windy conditions. Tremblay topped Beekmantown’s Keegan Seamone, who shot the Eagles lowest round with a 43.

Fellow Blue Bomber seniors Chris Byrne and Grady Draper also had solid rounds, with both of them shooting 39s while picking up two individual wins. Bryne defeated Owen Beebe 39-47 and Draper beat Cooper Burdo 39-45.

Carver Bell, an eighth grader, and Seb Cecunjanin, a sophomore, earned wins for Lake Placid in the fourth and fifth matches, respectively. Bell topped Seth Beebe 44-47 and Cecunjanin defeated Camden Brayton 45-53.

The Blue Bomber’s Liam Gotham, a seventh-grader, suffered the lone setback falling to Aiden Rochebeau 50-58.

Following the win, Lake Placid improves to 7-1 overall. The team will finish the regular season on the road against Plattsburgh at the Bluff Point Golf Resort on Friday.

The Lake Placid boys and girls tennis teams were defeated by the Peru Nighthawks on Wednesday. The Blue Bomber girls fell 5-0, while the boys found themselves in a closer match, falling 3-2.

In the boys match, Lake Placid’s top doubles duo of brothers Harrison and Nash Carlisto picked up a win, defeating Peru’s Gavin Mero and Elijah Lederman 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-3).

Soren Jacobson earned the second win for the Blue Bombers in the number two singles match, topping Sebastien Schaefer 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).

Lake Placid’s second doubles team of Owen Keal and Erik Kampershroer fell to Isaac Hathaway and Keith Parent 6-3, 6-2. The Blue Bombers’ Henry Becker lost to Peru’s Robin Maisse 6-2, 5-7 in the number one singles match and Parker Scanio was topped by the Nighthawks’ Jack Hayes 1-6, 7-5, 6-1 in the number three singles match.

On the girls side, Peru’s Jacklin Mitchell defeated Julia Crawford in the number one singles 6-1, 6-1, the Nighthawks’ Remi Beauharnois beat Bailey Smith 6-2, 6-1 and Peru’s Jenni Davis topped Sydney Garrison 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles play, Lake Placid’s Grace Ericson and Grace Carlson were defeated by Elise Beauharnois and Bella Berry 6-2, 6-4. The second doubles for the Blue Bombers also fell, with Jenna Audlin and Fern Beattie falling to the Nighthawks’ Morgan Bechard and Maddie Mero 6-0, 6-2.

The match was the final contest of the regular season. The two squads will prepare for the sectional tournament in Plattsburgh starting on Monday. The girls will play at Plattsburgh High School, while the boys will play at SUNY Plattsburgh’s Macdonough Hall.
