Snowboard cross qualifiers start off games in North Creek

NORTH CREEK — With fresh powder on the mountain, 19 men and 14 women competed in Snowboard Cross Qualifications Thursday at Gore Mountain, finalizing their spots ahead of Friday’s Round Robin and Final.

“The banks are pretty tight and closing up pretty tight. It will be tough with four guys at one time, but it’s going to be fun,” said German Athlete Leon Sylvester Beckhaus.

Team France secured the top three spots in’s the Men’s Qualifications, with Quentin Sodogas ranked number one with a time of 54.83. Nienke Elisabeth Hendrika Poll ranked number one in the Women’s Qualifications, with a time of 58.80. Glib Mostovenko from Ukraine and Hunter Bernard from the USA failed to qualify after partaking in a four-men heat at the end of qualifications.

“I am having a great time, this is a great opportunity, and it is great to meet all these people,” said Paige Hughes of the USA.
