SARANAC LAKE — Just a few days after a solid showing at the Section VII Early Bird Invitational, the Saranac Lake cross country teams faired pretty well in their first meet at home Tuesday at the Dewey Mountain Recreation Center.

Saranac Lake’s Jake Kollmer and Sam Ash were the first and second runners to finish the boys’ race. Both Kollmer and Ash crossed with identical times of 16 minutes, 48 seconds, but Kollmer had a slight edge over Ash at the finish line to earn the win.

After Peru’s Ryan Squire finished in 17:39 to take third place, the Red Storm’s Sam Bickford (17:55) and Aiden Hesseltine (18:09) fought through to finish four Saranac Lake runners in the top five.

Morgan Martin was Saranac Lake’s next runner to finish, earning seventh place in 18:24. Martin was followed by teammate Paul Fogarty in 14th place in 19:07.
