Placid Planet time trial series to begin today

The Placid Planet bicycle time trial series will begin today at 6:30 p.m.

The bicycle race series is an 8-mile individual race scheduled to take place every Wednesday evening for the next six weeks until June 8.

Participants will earn points based on their participation, improvement and to the individual with the fastest time each week. Prizes including Placid Planet gift cards and merchandise which will be awarded at the final event.

The race will take place on River Road in Lake Placid and will start at the end of the road toward the ski jumps. Parking will be available at the Olympic Jumping Complex and at the North Elba Show Grounds.

Cyclists start at 30 second intervals and drafting other cyclists on the out and back course will not be allowed. River Road will be open to traffic while the event is in progress.

There will not be a charge for participants and the event is open to cyclists of all abilities. Helmets are mandatory and a liability waiver must be signed. Riders ages 18 and under will need a parent’s signature to participate.
