Bombers catch fire to beat Bolton

BOLTON LANDING — The Lake Placid boys basketball team caught fire from the start and was never threatened on the way to claiming a 47-26 road victory over Bolton Central in Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference action Wednesday.

The Blue Bombers raced out to a 21-2 lead fueled by five three-pointers, with three coming from Matt Brandes and two more from Adnan Cecunjanin. Lake Placid led 32-18 at haltime and held the Eagles to just eight points after intermission, including just two in the third period.

Brandes, a junior, finished with a game-high 24 points, Cecunjanin scored eight points and Jack Armstrong chipped in six in the victory. Kevin Neacy paced Bolton with 14 points, which all came during the second quarter.

“Great team defense,” Lake Placid coach Brian Van Nostrand said.“We moved the ball well, best we’ve played so far.”

The Blue Bombers improved to 4-8 with the win and next play at home Friday against Willsboro with the opening tipoff slated for 6:30 p.m.
