SLP girls win 3-1

OSWEGO — The Saranac Lake Placid girls hockey team started a three-game road trip with a win Friday, topping Skaneateles 3-1 in a non-league matchup.

SLP will be playing three games in as many days, and broke a 1-1 tie with a pair of third-period goals to take down the Lakers.

Dariana Patterson staked SLP to a 1-0 edge with the lone goal of the first period, which was assisted by Sydney Dann.

Skaneateles deadlocked the contest with the only goal of the second period, and SLP jumped ahead for good when Danaya Patterson tallied less than five minutes into the third to put the visitors up 2-1. Ireland Preston and Tailor Whitson assisted on the goal, which turned out to be the game-winner.

Madie Gay then tacked on an insurance goal with 4:56 remaining, putting SLP on top 3-1 off an assist to Annabell Bombard-Schmidt.

Brooke Paries registered 25 saves to earn the win in nets for SLP.

All three games SLP is playing this weekend are being held in Oswego. SLP next takes on Ithaca Saturday starting at 11 a.m., and then faces host Oswego Sunday, also starting at 11 a.m.
