LAKE PLACID — Kickstart your holiday spirit and help bring cheer to a local child by participating in the annual Adirondack Health Jingle Bell Run/Walk on Saturday.

Held in conjunction with Lake Placid’s Holiday Village Stroll, the run/walk begins at 8:30 a.m. at the public beach on Mirror Lake in Lake Placid. The flat, family-friendly course around Mirror Lake offers a healthy and fun start to the holiday season. Don’t forget to wear your holiday best. The most festive holiday costume will be awarded a $100 prize.

Participants can register by Thursday, Dec. 12 for the Jingle Bell Run/Walk at active.com for $20. The first 150 registrants are guaranteed a T-shirt. Race-day registration is from 7 to 8 a.m. inside the public beach house, with an entry fee of $25. Proceeds benefit Adirondack Health’s Fit for Life program and Essex County Women, Infants and Children (WIC).

Participants are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to benefit local children. Anyone not participating in the Run/Walk who wishes to donate a toy is welcome to drop off their donation on the day of the event.

“Many families choose between feeding themselves and giving gifts during the holidays,” said Krista Berger, Essex County WIC program coordinator. “This is an opportunity to help provide a local family with a Christmas they might not normally have.”
