Old Boys lead the way
SARANAC LAKE — The Old Boys divisions kicked off the 46th annual Can-Am Rugby Tournament on Friday at the Petrova Avenue Fields.
Action continues Saturday on fields in Saranac Lake and at the North Elba Athletic Fields in Lake Placid. Championship games will take place Sunday at the North Country Community College Bowl in Saranac Lake.
Sunday’s championship games will be streamed on Facebook Live. North Country Community College will host “Live at the Bowl” beginning at 8:30 a.m. The free coverage can be accessed via the Can-Am Rugby Tournament Facebook page. Look down the left side, click “Videos,” then click “Live.” It’s easy, simple and free.
The tournament dates back to 1974 and features more than 100 sides vying for spots in the title matchups. The Saranac Lake Mountaineers are the host club and will field teams in the men’s social and club divisions as well as in the women’s tournament. The Mountaineers Old Boys, aka the MOB, dropped both its matches Friday in the over-50 division.
