SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Women’s Softball League playoffs are heading to a deciding game on Friday.

That’s because Blue Line Insurance came through with an 18-16 victory over The Lanes on Wednesday in the league’s double-elimination posteseason format. In a matchup that stayed tight most of the way, Blue Line broke a deadlock by scoring five times in the top of the seventh inning.

The Lanes, the league’s defending champion, scored three runs in its final at-bat to make things close in the end.

Had the Lanes been able to win Wednesday, it would have clinched another title, but instead, both squads have one loss in the playoffs and they’ll now battle it out in the championship game Friday at Petrova Avenue starting at 6 p.m.
