Van Ledger takes on biathlon’s finest

New York Ski Educational Foundation athlete Van Ledger, of Lake Placid, competes in the Junior Biathlon World Championships and IBU Cup Team Trials in late December in Soldier Hollow, Utah. Ledger placed 11th in the 10-kilometer sprint event on Dec. 28. “You really saw the full spread of biathletes in the nation,” he said. “In the east, a biathlon race usually has five to 10 athletes in each age group while the trials in Utah had over 30 in your group.” Ledger’s next biathlon race will be a NorAm event in Jericho, Vermont in February.
