SLP falls to 5-5-1 after loss to Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh girls hockey team handed Saranac Lake Placid a 2-1 defeat Wednesday night at the Ameri-Can North Sports Center.

Madelyn Gay gave SLP a 1-0 lead 5:42 into the second period with an unassisted goal. Plattsburgh answered two minutes later when Taylor Heywood found the back of the net on a pass from Hannah Glicksman.

Taylor Hackett scored the game-winning goal 2:13 into the third, and Saranac Lake Placid was unable to score the rest of the way.

SLP’s Whitney Battistoni stopped 13 of the 15 shots she faced, while Corinne Smith turned away 20 for Plattsburgh.

SLP fell to 5-5-1 overall (1-1 CVAC) with the loss, and will return to action Friday at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid for a league game against Franklin Academy.

BOYS HOCKEY

Beekmantown 8, Lake Placid 0

LAKE PLACID — The Beekmantown boys hockey team scored six goals in the first two periods on the way to an 8-0 victory over Lake Placid.

Seamus Andrew scored twice, while Cody Repas, Josh McCauley, Kaden Kowalowski, Nathan Hebert, Andrew St. Hilaire and Tyler Baker each had one to lead Beekmantown.

Anders Stanton stopped 38 shots in goal for the Blue Bombers. Riley Hansen, Evan Dyke and Braedan Whittington combined for the shutout for the Eagles.
