Shamrocks hold off SLP

FORT COVINGTON — The Salmon River girls hockey team built a lead early and held on to beat Saranac Lake Placid 4-2 on Friday.

Lexie Lazore scored twice and Jasmine Pyke scored once as Salmon River took a 3-0 advantage into the third period.

Tess Stanton scored SLP’s first goal at the 11:48 mark of the third period on an assist by Lydia Bullock. Salmon River responded with a goal by Bryceland Sunday at 9:38 of the third, and Bullock rounded out the scoring for the night on an assist by Lea Hill.

Whitney Battistoni collected 32 saves in goal for SLP, while Carli Cartier stopped 22 for Salmon River.

SLP returns to action Friday in Oswego against Skaneatles.
